I'm Sarah, the artist and designer behind Stoney Rose Studio, with one of my recent A3 portraits of Bijou in the boot of her owners car. I loved how unique this unusual setting was and how she stands out against the colourful baskets.
I work from my lovely home studio, which overlooks our garden so I can see and hear my two children playing when they are home.
I grew up with an appreciation for nature, art and the beautiful world we live in, which I feel has had an impact on the work I create. I give each project or commission in-depth thought and consideration, and I love to create unique work that really tells your story. I believe we are really lucky to live in a world filled with different and fascinating souls, who each bring something to our lives. My passion is to communicate this through the art and design I create.
I have worked in graphic design and creative design since 2008 after graduating with a Fashion and Textiles degree. I've enjoyed the opportunity to work in various in-house and design agency roles over all sorts of sectors from national legal businesses and international retailers to charities, hospitals and schools. This breadth of opportunity has given me brilliant experience to look at projects from a range of different view points which really informs my design work.
For the last two years, I have focussed on bespoke watercolour painting. I love the qualities of watercolour and the lamination that can be achieved to create subtle shifts in tone and shade. My bespoke watercolours are a joy to create. To be able to paint soulful and authentic portraits of precious faces, that touch the hearts of my clients, is the most rewarding feeling.
